NWA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 is one of the most unique characters in the business. Carter has been part of multiple wrestling promotions including TNA/IMPACT, WWE and NWA.
In a recent interview with Cleveland.com, the former WWE Superstar shared his thoughts on the notion that wrestling is ‘fake’.
“The only difference is we’re not making someone like Tom Cruise look good in an action movie. But that’s what we all bring to the table. You know, as a veteran of this industry who got started in a garage across the street from Lake County Captains Stadium, I live those humble beginnings. My career started there on a very, very small scale.
“It’s been a blessing to work hard, grow, train, put myself in a position to travel the world through professional wrestling — working for some of the biggest companies in the world,” EC3 said.
Following this, Carter spoke about what the industry is growing into. He made a comparison between professional wrestling and the infamous Marvel comics.
“This industry has put itself in such a niche, in such a bubble, that we’re not reaching casual fans to some degree, you know? Folks think they can’t follow along if they’re not completely up to date on all the soap opera storylines. But you gotta start somewhere. Casual fans can just jump in. I think about Marvel Comics, you know? I didn’t know much about Iron Man or Thor way back when. But now, 20 years of movies later, I know it quite a bit and though I don’t know all the ‘Easter eggs’ or backstories, I do have a broad knowledge and I’m entertained,” he added.
EC3 is the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
