Tiffany Stratton confirms that the Barbie doll spot at NXT No Mercy was a concept drawn up by Becky Lynch.
At NXT No Mercy, Tiffany Stratton challenged Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. With the added stipulation of Extreme Rules, Stratton and Lynch utilized an arsenal of various weapons, including tables, chairs, a trash can, and a shopping cart. Perhaps the most unique weapon, though, was the bag of Barbie Dolls that Lynch introduced into the matchup. While Stratton emerged to the PLE with a Barbie-themed ring entrance, she wasn’t the one who came up with the idea to use Barbie dolls in the match.
“That was definitely Becky’s idea,” Stratton told Digital Spy. “Becky has amazing ideas, but she thought it would be so cool and so wacky to just have that visual. Everyone thinks [the bag] would have like thumbtacks or something like that, and then [she] pours it out and it’s Barbies and Barbie heads and we squash the Barbies and stuff. So that was definitely her idea.”
After Lynch dropped the Barbie dolls from a drawstring bag, Stratton attempted to slam Lynch onto them. Unfortunately for Stratton, Lynch shifted the tide, instead dropping Stratton back-first onto the scattered doll pieces.
Lynch went on to retain the NXT Women’s Championship at No Mercy after sending Stratton crashing onto a pile of chairs via the Manhandle Slam.
