LA Knight was set to for a major role on WWE SmackDown, but he was pulled from the show.
On Friday night, John Cena and AJ Styles were set to sign a contract for a match against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa at WWE Fastlane. Uso and Sikoa took out Styles, leaving Cena on his own. The Bloodline duo then laid Cena out to end the show.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that LA Knight was listed as being involved in the contract signing. Specifically, Knight was listed as a surprise to help John Cena. Sapp wrote that the change was not related to Vince McMahon. Instead, it was a medical issue.
Sapp then confirmed with WWE sources and those close to LA Knight that he tested positive for COVID right before WWE SmackDown. As a result, he had to leave the building, so he was not able to participate in the show.
Cena and Jimmy Uso signed the contract for the match at WWE Fastlane, but Cena was left without a partner.
WrestleZone wishes Knight well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
