It’s been a crazy 24-hour period for Pat McAfee.
Friday afternoon, Pat McAfee had The Rock on The Pat McAfee Show. Later in the evening, they appeared on WWE SmackDown and put a beatdown on Austin Theory.
McAfee spoke with Kayla Braxton following SmackDown last night to reflect on this special experience.
“It was an absolute honor, Kayla,” Pat McAfee said. “I got the incredible opportunity to come to a SmackDown because the show that I do every single Saturday, College GameDay, is in Boulder, which is right up the road. A 45-minute drive down here.
“I hopped in a bus, I showered in the bus to get here as soon as I heard there was an opportunity to do something; I literally sprinted back and then to be in the same ring as The Rock; that’s awesome. The Rock and I had a chance to chat earlier today on my show. He was electrifying.
“And then tonight to get to be in the ring. Whenever all of it happens, I got to see all of it happening there. The spinebuster, the People’s Elbow, the eyebrow raise, the it doesn’t matter, him starting a you are an asshole chant that went on for like two minutes.
“WWE, my entire life, has been my dream destination. And everything that I’ve been able to do here I’m incredibly lucky for, thankful for, grateful for, and I try to enjoy. I definitely did that tonight, and yeah, it’s a dream being back for sure.”
When Kayla mentioned that 5-year-old Pat McAfee could have never dreamed about what he got to do on SmackDown, McAfee reflected on sharing the ring with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
“Yeah, Kayla, it’s so stupid,” Pat McAfee admitted. “I got stunned by Stone Cold at WrestleMania in Texas, and then I got to drink some Steveweisers with him afterward. I just got to do a People’s Elbow with The Rock. I’m living not only my dream, but I know pretty much every kid that grew up in my generation’s dream. So, I hope I’m doing you guys proud. I’m trying to enjoy it, and I am beyond thankful for it all.”
