Becky Lynch is the new NXT Women’s Champion.
In recent weeks, Becky Lynch has been feuding with then-champion Tiffany Stratton, who erroneously called Lynch a former NXT Women’s Champion on the August 22 episode of WWE NXT. Stratton confronted Lynch at WWE Payback. “The Man” then appeared in a video message on the September 5 episode of WWE NXT to send a message to Stratton. She announced that she would return to NXT to challenge Stratton for the gold on September 12.
In the main event of the September 12 episode of WWE NXT, Becky Lynch defeated Stratton to win the title. Stratton endured the Disarm-Her, but the Manhandle Slam put her down for the count.
With the win, Becky Lynch won the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time. In doing so, she became a Grand Slam Champion in NXT.
Stratton won the title at NXT Battleground by defeating Lyra Valkyria in the tournament finals for the vacant.
