ECW legend Rob Van Dam could potentially be on his way to AEW.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that there have been internal discussions about potentially bringing in Rob Van Dam. Sapp noted that the former WWE Champion possibly facing FTW Champion Jack Perry at AEW All In or All Out have been mentioned. It’s important to note that Van Dam coming to AEW in any capacity has not been confirmed.
As of this writing, RVD has never appeared on AEW programming. Fans have speculated that he could show up as part of Perry’s feud with ECW. In recent weeks, Perry has been feuding with Taz’s son, HOOK. He will face a face-to-face with former ECW star Jerry Lynn on the August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite.
The WWE Hall of Famer has not wrestled on television in the United States since he left IMPACT Wrestling in 2020. He has continued to compete for various promotions on a semi-regular basis.
Van Dam is a former WWE Champion and a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, among many other accolades.
AEW All In will be AEW’s debut in the United Kingdom. The show will emanate from Wembley Stadium on August 27. Per WrestleTix, 77,470 tickets have been distributed for the event.
Rob Van Dam On Jerry Lynn
Jerry Lynn will appear on the August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, and Rob Van Dam had a memorable rivalry with him. During an appearance on The Ten Count with Steve Fall, the legend reflected on their matches.
“Still today. When I wrestle somebody that I haven’t wrestled before, somebody usually that’s younger, but most of the wrestlers are,” Rob Van Dam joked. “But I’ll outlive pretty much everybody, but when I wrestle these guys, so often they say, hey, can we do some of that RVD Jerry Lynn shit? And my first thought is like, no. We just had this unbelievable chemistry that you can’t just do.”
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
