All Elite Wrestling delivered an action-packed show with the July 28 episode of AEW Rampage.
As announced during the July 26 episode of AEW Dynamite, Friday’s show will feature a Tag Team Battle Royale. The winners will earn a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Hardys, Ethan Page and Isiah Kassidy, and other teams have been advertised for the bout.
Additionally, Nyla Rose will face Hikaru Shida, and Komander will step in for an injured Scorpio Sky to face Kip Sabian. Elsewhere on the show, The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) will compete.
The results are as follows:
Match 1: Brian Cage and Big Bill win the Tag Team Battle Royale
In the opening segment of the night, the Team Team Battle Royale took place, with Cage and Bill earning a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a big win. In a match that included The Blade & Butcher, Luther & Serpentico, Daddy Magic & Angelo Parker, Big Bill & Brian Cage, Matt Sydal & Christoper Daniels, Matt & Jeff Hardy, Ethan Page & Brother Zay, and Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh, things came down to The Blade & The Butcher and the eventual winners.
After trading big hits and even hitting their finisher on Blade before tossing him over, Cage and Bill looked ready to walk to a victory. However, Butcher nearly fought off both Bill and Cage all by himself, but was eventually chokeslammed onto the mat and then throw over the top rope to end things.
Match 2: Komander defeats Kip Sabian via pinfall
Filling in for an injured Scorpio Sky, Komander walked away with a win over Kip Sabian tonight. In the match, Komander nearly lost early on after Penelope Ford got involved and hit Komander in the eyes when the referee wasn’t looking.
However, Komander would eventually recover and then hit a huge Canadian destroyer-esque move on Sabian before walking on the ropes and hitting a shooting star press for the pin and his first win in All Elite Wrestling.
Match 3: The Kingdom defeats two local talent via pinfall
A pretty quick and dominant win for The Kingdom, who ended things immediately after a big move.
Match 4:
Nyla Rose started the match off by immediately rushing at Shida and attacking her with a kendo stick. Shida was able to gather herself enough to throw Rose into the corner and hit a running knee, but Rose quickly send Shida flying out of the ring after. After getting out of the ring, Rose then caught Shida as she tried to land a move and threw her into the barricade.
Later in the match, after more back and forth brawling, Rose looked to end things with a lariat before climbing to the top rope to hit a big splash. However, Shida was able to get up and meet her on the turnbuckle, before hitting an Avalanche Falcon Arrow. Marina Shafir — who was at ringside — then tried to help Rose, putting Nyla’s leg on the rope to stop Shida from beating her on a pin.
Thankfully for Shida, though, she was able to stop Shafir with a few big hits of the kendo stick, before just barely dodging a Beast Bomb and then hitting the Katana on Rose for the pin and win.
After the match, Toni Storm and The Outcasts came out onto the ramp. Shida began talking trash with the group from in the ring to close out the show, as she’ll now face off against Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship next week on AEW Dynamite’s 200th episode.
