Vince McMahon recently had major surgery, according to a new report.
TMZ Sports reports that the Executive Chairman of the Board has “major surgery” on his spine last week. The procedure was meant to fix “an issue” with McMahon’s spine, and sources close to McMahon said it lasted over four hours. The surgery was reportedly deemed a success, and McMahon, 77, is now recovering.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that, per sources, the surgery was a “major, life-altering operation). Sapp noted that he didn’t get a direct answer on whether the surgery would affect McMahon’s work moving forward.
Additional details are not available at this time. There is no word on how long McMahon’s recovery will be. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available, and we wish McMahon well as he recovers.
Vince McMahon’s Eventful 2023
Following Vince McMahon’s 2022 retirement, WWE entered a new era. The former WWE CEO announced his retirement during a WWE board investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money. Upon his departure, Nick Khan and Stephanie McMaon took over as Co-CEOs, while Triple H was appointed head of creative. Mr. McMahon returned in a big way in January 2023. Shortly after his return, McMahon was voted the Executive Chairman of the Board.
In April, following months of speculation, WWE announced a transaction agreement with Endeavor that will see the company merge with UFC and form a new company. As part of the agreement, McMahon will serve as the Executive Chair of the new entity.
Since his return, McMahon has been making changes to WWE remotely. More information is available here.
