It was reported that Tyler Breeze was released by WWE over two years ago. According to a new report, he’s actually been under a new contract with the company for quite some time.
Breeze, a former NXT Tag Team Champion, was part of the wave of NXT releases in June 2021. He later returned to working on the UpUpDownDown brand with Xavier Woods and other NXT stars. Breeze has also appeared on WWE’s The Bump since his release.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Breeze has been under a deal with WWE for “quite some time.” This contract is specifically tied to Tyler Breeze’s work on the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel. Sapp noted that it’s unclear whether the deal has any wrestling provisions or restrictions linked to it, but one WWE source stated that it prevents Breeze from appearing on AEW TV.
Breeze’s return to wrestling was first announced for Prestige Roseland 6 on September 1. Breeze was later confirmed for the NGW: Tennessee event on July 8, where he’ll face Matt Cross.
During an interview with WrestleZone, Tyler Breeze spoke about what he’d been up to during his in-ring hiatus. Breeze stays busy with his Flatbacks wrestling school, but one thing he misses is performing in front of live crowds.
“The main thing, obviously, that I miss about wrestling, is the crowd. It’ll always be the crowd,” Breeze said. “The main thing is…my last year, all the pandemic stuff is going on, there was no audience. Then it slowly came back, but it wasn’t what it is now, so I definitely miss the crowd.
