The National Wrestling Alliance returns to the Chicago area for a good cause.
Next month, the NWA will make its way to Highland Park for a pair of live shows. On Sunday, July 9, NWA will film back-to-back television tapings for Powerrr. Perhaps more importantly, though, is the special event happening the day before. On July 8, NWA will host a charity show entitled “HP Cares for Cooper” at the Highland Park Recreation Center.
“HP Cares for Cooper” is a free event with an aim to help raise funds for the ongoing medical needs of Cooper Roberts, the youngest victim in the devastating mass shooting that occurred last year at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park. The free event will see performances from several NWA wrestlers and feature an opportunity for donations, sponsorships, and a raffle. All these efforts will directly benefit Cooper and his family. The proceeds will then go towards Cooper’s ongoing care, medical equipment and to retrofit the family’s home. Proceeds will also be given to Cooper’s twin brother Luke, who was also injured during the mass shooting.
Ahead of the “HP Cares for Cooper” event, NWA President Billy Corgan released the following statement via a press release:
“The NWA is thrilled to return to Highland Park for this special weekend of wrestling and charity,” he said. “We selected the Rec Center of Highland Park as the venue for the charity show because it serves as a centralized location for the community to gather and have a great time. We are honored to partner with the Roberts family, who have endured so much since the tragedy. This event is a testament to the community’s resilience and the unifying power of wrestling.”
A number of NWA talent have been confirmed for “HP Cares for Cooper,” including NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille, NWA National Heavyweight Champion EC3, Mike Knox, Trevor Murdoch, NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions Madi and Missa Kate, Thrillbilly Silas Mason, Natalia Markova, and more.
The press release also noted that while admission to the “HP Cares for Cooper” show is free, fans who want VIP seats in the first or second rows can reserve those tickets for a minimum donation of $75 at NWATIX.com. Attendees are also invited to contribute any amount of money as a donation to this special event. Donations can be made at the venue or electronically or by scanning a QR code on their phones.
Following the conclusion of “HP Cares for Cooper,” NWA will head to Studio One for back-to-back sessions of television sessions on July 9.
