CM Punk may be a divisive figure, but he still carries a lot of value, says former AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter.
This Saturday, CM Punk will return to action to headline the debut episode of AEW Collision. Ahead of his return, Punk said he had “a lot of things” to get off his chest following his 9-month hiatus. His hiatus, of course, began after an unfortunate series of events followed AEW All Out in September 2022, including Punk’s infamous post-show tirade.
Despite the previous drama surrounding CM Punk, Jamie Hayter believes the AEW locker room would be “fools” to not want to work with him. During an interview with Metro UK, Hayter further explained why working with Punk is of great benefit.
“From my experience with him, he was always very, very pleasant. Very helpful, and I always had really great conversations with him about wrestling. He’s a wealth of knowledge because he’s been in the business for so long, and he’s got extensive experience,” she said. “You’d kind of be a fool to not want to pick his brain and not want to work with the guy. He knows what he’s doing!”
“He was one of the most gripping performers in professional wrestling. The Summer of Punk, all of that, everyone was so into it and there was a reason why he was the most popular wrestler. To be honest, I would say he’s still incredibly popular now, regardless of the All Out stuff and the drama. He’s still a big name and he’s still wanted in the business.”
The premiere of AEW Collision will emanate from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. CM Punk will team with AEW Tag Team Champions FTR in the main event as they take on the team of Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe.
