A new report has shined some light on The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, and the Young Bucks) and their contract status.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that all four have been negotiating new AEW contracts. Though the deals aren’t done, they were said to have come close on multiple occasions. One side noted that it was accurate for the past several months, and not much had changed. Sources expressed their confidence that AEW would retain The Elite, despite CM Punk’s looming return.
Per Sapp, Omega had time added to his deal due to the period he missed due to injuries. Overall, due to injuries, options, and other factors, it’s unclear exactly when the deals expire. However, Sapp wrote that most people in AEW expect all four men to stay in AEW and get significant money increases.
Meanwhile, WWE sources noted that they would “absolutely have interest” in Page, Omega, and the Young Bucks if they hit the open market, but they don’t expect that to happen.
