It sounds like CM Punk has a great idea about who his return opponent should be in All Elite Wrestling.
Ideas have been thrown around by fans and reports in recent months about who CM Punk’s first opponent would be if he were to return to All Elite Wrestling. Now that it seems that this return will be a reality next month, it’s been revealed that Punk has been angling for the first opponent to be one of the greatest rivals from his past.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), CM Punk has been pushing for his first match back to be with current Ring of Honor World Television Champion Samoa Joe.
Samoa Joe and CM Punk haven’t faced off in the ring since Ring of Honor in 2005. Punk has never defeated The Samoan Submission Machine in one on one action.
Sapp is unable to confirm if this would be a one-off match or an extended program between the two or if Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling are receptive to Punk’s request for this to happen.
