“Thrillbilly” Silas Mason and Pollo Del Mar discuss the NWA‘s recent tour in Australia.
NWA President Billy Corgan is also the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, and he continues to bring pair up the two worlds. The NWA was part of the band’s The World is a Vampire music festival in Australia in April, and the tour saw the promotion’s top stars wrestle Down Under.
In an interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Mason discussed the experience and noted that it was groundbreaking. He stated that they went all over Australia, and he personally got to introduce two bands. Mason also noted that Battlesnake is currently working on a theme song for him.
“It was groundbreaking, man. It was revolutionary,” Mason said. “I’m not just talking about myself. I’m just talking about the tour in general, man. We were going from Brisbane to Sydney to Melbourne and Adelaide way down there near Antarctica and stuff like that, in front of thousands and thousands of screaming fans per night. I actually introduced two bands multiple occasions, Amyl and the Sniffers, really good band. Check them out.
“My boys in Battlesnake, who are currently working on a custom theme song for Big Daddy Thrill. So yeah, man, it was a great experience. It’s just learning the lingo, learning what the heck Macca’s (McDonald’s) is. Learn what an arvo is. An arvo is just the afternoon. Don’t know if there’s a “v” in the word afternoon, but that’s how they shorten it up.”
Pollo Del Mar was asked to describe how she feels with being away from Mason for so long and she noted that they were a power couple. She described how they can dominate together, even when they’re on different continents, and she teased that she has been working on some things that are coming to the NWA soon.
“We are one of those things that you know is a power couple,” Pollo said. “It means that when we come together, it is explosive. But we each bring our own special charge to the relationship. So, Silas can go and dominate another continent, and I’ll hold it down here at home. I’ve been working on some special things that are going to be coming to the National Wrestling Alliance very soon. But I’m not a liberty to tell you what those are.
“I’m also doing a few things here and there behind the scenes. I am, in fact, the person who scouted out our venue, the Fairgrounds Annex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Crockett Cup. So, I got my fingers in many pots, which is different than having many fingers in my pot.”
