WWE hasn’t publicly announced any new hires to the main roster recently, and a new report shines some light on the situation.
After Triple H took over as WWE’s head of creative in 2022, the company signed several performers, including Karrion Kross, Dakota Kai, and Bronson Reed, among several others. But following Vince McMahon‘s return to the company and WWE’s subsequent exploration of a potential sale, no new hires have been confirmed, aside from deals the company made in 2022.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that several talent have claimed that there’s a hiring freeze; while no one has been told its official, the term continues to make the rounds.
Previous reports indicated that WWE was interested in multiple stars, including Jay White and Brian Cage. It has also been reported that WWE was interested in bringing back the Authors of Pain, with Fightful Select reporting that sources indicating that they were in talks with the company prior to McMahon’s return.
Additionally, Cage reportedly has “well respected supporters” advocating for him, and Triple H was said to be high on Nick Aldis. However, in the aftermath of McMahon’s return, all hires were reportedly put on hold.
Sapp also cited talent who stated that they have been contacted by WWE in 2023, though others who were on WWE’s radar have had no contact from the company. Sapp reported that multiple names were told that it was “hard to make things happen” due to WWE’s looming sale/deal.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
