Kofi Kingston is set to undergo ankle surgery.
Kingston hurt his ankle during the March 3 episode of WWE SmackDown; the injury seemingly occurred when Kingston was at ringside for a brawl, and Drew McIntyre dove onto the group of wrestlers. On the March 10 episode of SmackDown, he was scheduled to compete in a five-way match for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship, but he was replaced by Xavier Woods.
In a tweet, Kingston confirmed that he will be having surgery; he wrote that he was in Birmingham, Alabama, and his surgery was set to be at the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center on Friday, March 17.
“Tomorrow, we march forward and into the hands of the best in the world at what he does! Let’s get this ankle right,” Kingston wrote.
WrestleZone wishes Kingston well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
