Xavier Woods‘ run as King of the Ring would have gone very differently if Vince McMahon had his way.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), following Xavier Woods’ King of the Ring win, Vince McMahon pitched for him to turn on Kofi Kingston because “it’s what a King would do.” Despite McMahon’s request, Sapp reports that Woods specifically fought against allowing that turn to happen.
While Woods was successful in his fight, his run at King turned out to be very underwhelming, and The New Day member didn’t receive any sort of an extended push for winning the tournament as others have in the past.
This isn’t the first time that Vince McMahon has tried to separate The New Day either, as Sapp confirms that the WWE owner has pitched to break up the faction on multiple occasions.
Xavier Woods currently finds himself alone on the road to WrestleMania as Big E and Kofi Kingston are sidelined with injuries.
