Rey Mysterio was announced as the first inductee WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023, and now we know that Konnan, the lifelong friend of Mysterio, will be the one to induct him in.
The revelation came during a recent report on Mysterio’s inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame from the Los Angeles Times. Konnan, who has known Mysterio since the wrestler was 11, is not only his former tag team partner and longtime friend, but also the godfather to Dominik Mysterio, Rey’s son. Konnan is a former professional wrestler himself, who has appeared in a ton of promotions, most recently All Elite Wrestling last year.
Throughout his career, Konnan racked up a ton of championship wins, including holding the WCW World Television Championship, WCW United States Heavyweight Championship, and the WCW World Tag Team Championships, which he held once with Mysterio.
As for Mysterio, the superstar began his wrestling career in 1989, but joined WWE in 2002, and would go on to collect a litany of championships, including holding the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship (2 times), WWE Cruiserweight Championship (3 times), WWE Intercontinental Championship (2 times), and WWE Tag Team Championship (4 times), just to name a few.
