Ric Flair thinks Vince McMahon let everyone know he’s the boss when he reportedly appeared backstage at WWE RAW.
McMahon retired amid a board investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money on July 22, 2022. He officially returned too WWE on January 6, and he was voted the Executive Chairman of the Board on January 10. The former CEO was reportedly backstage at the March 6 episode of WWE RAW.
Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair was asked to share his thoughts on McMahon’s reported presence backstage. He noted that McMahon was showing everyone he’s the boss, but he was also likely there to visit John Cena, who appeared on the show on Monday.
“He’s the boss, and he’s letting everybody know it,” Flair said. “I’m sure he loves visiting with John, they’re very close. They’ve both relayed to me in different conversations. I think Vince and John are beyond friends. They’re just really close. I think John, where some guys will drift off, John always stays right there. I wouldn’t be surprised if they talked a couple times a week.”
Flair continued by repeating that he believed McMahon was there to remind everyone that he’s the boss. When he asked co-host Conrad Thompson whether McMahon was at his usual spot in Gorilla Position, Thompson noted that he didn’t know.
“I just think he let everybody know he’s still the boss,” Flair said. “If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be sitting in Gorilla, in the chair he’s always sat in. I understand he sat right in his regular chair for the whole show, right? Is that true?”
