If you’ve recently drawn any comparisons in your mind between Josh Alexander and Bret Hart, there might be a reason for that.
IMPACT World Champion Josh Alexander recently sat down with Alistair McGeorge of METRO to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his recent run as champion, Alexander says he’s drawn inspiration from Bret Hart’s King of the Ring run in 1993.
“I’m extremely proud of it,” Josh Alexander said. “Three very polarising, completely different kinds of pro wrestlers with three different styles, and he went out there and stole the show with every single match he had. I think it’s one of the greatest wrestling performances of all time. It’s something I’ve looked at and studied and something I embrace.”
When asked if there’s any interest in him from other companies outside of IMPACT Wrestling, Alexander said that there is, but the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
“Sure, there’s always interest. It doesn’t matter where you are, I think a lot of people always have this tendency to think the grass is greener on the other side,” Josh Alexander said. “I certainly learned throughout my life, not with wrestling per se but with other careers, that the grass isn’t always greener. [laughs] I’ve always been forever grateful for IMPACT Wrestling, after 14 years hustling on the independents, they were the first company that ever gave me an opportunity. They gave me the ball, and I never dropped it.”
