In such an unpredictable industry like professional wrestling, Liv Morgan is setting up her future now.
Amidst her vast ascent in WWE, Morgan began exploring opportunities outside of the wrestling space. In October 2022, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion landed a guest-starring role as herself on the Chucky series. As she continues seeking more acting work — and even dabbling into real estate — Morgan also became a business owner in late 2021 when she launched ShopLiveMore.
Despite her hand lingering in many other departments right now, Morgan made it clear that wrestling remains her top priority, as she explained during an appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin.
“I don’t want people to think that I care less for [WWE] or that I’m going to try less for here or that my goals aren’t the same because I’m interested in other things,” Morgan said. “It’s not the case, so I just wanted to clear the air.”
Morgan explained that all her projects outside of WWE are done intentionally to reel in more star power over to the company. “I’m not doing these things so I can be rich and famous and successful and be like ‘Alright, peace!’ It’s like no, I want to bring more fans. I want to bring more just notoriety in any way that I can,” she said.
“So, if I’m getting to do cool opportunities, like being in a movie with Samuel L Jackson and Uma Thurman or be killed by Chucky, I do that with like the full intention on bringing more eyes to the product, making my star bigger in WWE and overall, it be great for the company,” Morgan said. “I always keep WWE in mind.”
Morgan later reiterated she wants to wrestle for as long as she can, but knows that “tomorrow is not ever promised” in such a physically risky industry. As a result, she’s preparing a resume outside of the sport as well.
“So, if I can utilize this platform while I have it to kind of start a transition into acting and other entertainment, I, of course, want to utilize this platform while I have it,” she said. WWE has been very gracious. They’ve been very cool and understanding and are allowing me, and are happy for me that I’m kind of exploring and trying to dabble into other things. They’ve been so great.”
In recent months, Morgan revealed she’d been auditioning for more acting roles. In addition, she’s racked up meetings with different production companies and streaming services. “Nothing really too solidified right now [though],” she said. “but I’m ready and open for whatever opportunity comes my way.”
“I love working,” she continued. “I have so much motivation to work, set up myself, my family, I take care of my family. It’s something that I will continue to do until my last day on Earth — so dramatic. I got to make sure my s*** is straight, I have I have a family to take care of. I’ve got to make sure that we are secured.”
Ultimately, all of Morgan’s moves serve a simple purpose.
“It’s all to stabilize a future potentially without WWE, hopefully always with WWE, but I definitely keep into consideration [that] my family depends on me,” Morgan said. “They’re great, but they depend on me. So, it’s definitely something that I consider in everything that I do. I’m not only doing this for myself, I’m doing this for them and I’ve got to be able to deliver.”
For now, Morgan continues to compete in WWE; she and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville on the February 10 episode of WWE SmackDown. Catch up on our coverage here.
