WWE NXT Superstars Katana Chance & Kayden Carter held the women’s NXT Tag Team Championships for a record 186 days before dropping them to Fallon Henley & Kiana James at Vengeance Day over the weekend.
After the show, CBS Sports asked Shawn Michaels about the former champions and what he thinks the future holds for them.
Michaels said, “I think their future is still obviously very bright and I think the world of them. They have been, I think to your point, they have been the most consistent tag team to me, I would argue almost in WWE all together. I think that is what makes them so appealing. Look, with the exception outside of maybe New Day, I don’t know a tag team that doesn’t always kind of, you know, combust so to speak. I don’t see that happening with those two. I think they are a fantastic team. I think that they are wonderful young ladies obviously.”
Michaels doesn’t see this minor setback affecting them much in the future. To wrap up his point, Michaels said. “Look, I think this is just a little setback for them. They are the longest reigning tag team champions in the WWE. It doesn’t mean they can’t win them back for a second time and I am sure they wouldn’t have any problems with that. I am sure that is one of the first things on their list.”
