AEW president Tony Khan comments on Adam Cole‘s return.
Cole suffered a concussion at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where he challenged for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way bout that included Hangman Page, Kazuchika Okada, and Jay White. Cole missed several months, but he returned on the January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite. In an emotional promo, Cole made it clear that he intends to wrestle again soon.
In an interview with Nick Testoni of 98 Rock in Baltimore, Cole’s comeback came up in the conversation, and Khan was asked to comment on AEW’s concussion protocol. He emphasized that the company wanted to put Cole’s health first and help him however possible before they even considered his potential return to the ring.
“It’s a very, very important concern, and when Adam Cole was injured, we absolutely wanted to take as much time and evaluate what we could do for him, how we could treat him, and do whatever we could to put his health first before we even considered any possibility that he was gonna return to the ring, Khan said. “It’s only now that he’s made this kind of progress in his brain therapy and in his recovery where we believe Adam Cole is ready to return to the ring. Very excited about that. So it was great to have him come back to AEW Dynamite, and we’re so excited about more Adam Cole in AEW going forward.”
As of this writing, it’s unclear when Cole will return to the ring. WrestleZone will continue to monitor the situation and provide information as it becomes available.
