Ricochet shares his thoughts on Triple H leading WWE creative and says the stories on WWE TV are coming together beautifully.
The high-flying star rose to stardom in NXT before he moved up to the main roster in 2019. After some initial success, his run there somewhat stalled before he had a resurgent 2022; he captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship and won the SmackDown World Cup. 2022 was an unforgettable year for WWE as a whole, as Vince McMahon retired as chairman and CEO, and Triple H took over as the head of creative.
Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Ricochet discussed his experience working with Triple H, dating back to his days in NXT. He noted that different people have been at the helm, one way or another since he arrived on the main roster.
‘I just think… it just goes through different ebbs and flows,” Ricochet said. “When I got there in 2019, I think it was Paul Heyman who was head of creative. He was kind of doing that thing, me and Aleister [Black], I think Buddy Murphy at the time, a couple of us were doing our thing. Then it goes through different changes, Bruce [Prichard] comes in, now Triple H is here. Now that Triple H is here, he’s making the decisions that he thinks today’s market wants to see.”
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion described how he feels like, now that Triple H is the head of creative, he’s trying to orient the product in a way that optimizes it in today’s market. He shared his belief that Triple H has done a “pretty good” job so far, and he stated that the stories are coming together beautifully.
“He’s trying to – not cater to today’s market, but find that line of today’s market, with WWE, with everything going into it,” Ricochet said. “I think he’s trying to do the best job he can, making everything flow, making the big shows flow, the live events.
“I think he’s done pretty good so far, especially I think the stories are coming together beautifully. I know WrestleMania is our highest grossing WrestleMania ever and we haven’t even announced a match yet.”
Moving forward, Ricochet encouraged fans to be patient and take things one day at a time, as he’s confident that the future is bright. He noted that Triple H and his team have a plan, and what fans have seen so far is just the beginning.
“I think so far, everything has been a step at a time, and just figuring out the next step. You’ve gotta take it day by day and you’ve gotta take it opportunity by opportunity,” Ricochet said. “I know he’s trying to broaden the roster as well. I think not just him, but I think they all have a plan that they are trying to set in motion. This is just the beginning, I think this plan is just beginning to set in motion and I think continuing forward, it’s gonna be nothing but good things.”
Ricochet will compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble match at WWE Royal Rumble on January 28.
