Willow Nightingale On Signing Her AEW Contract: It Was A Complete 180 Of My Situation

Although she signed the contract hours before, Willow Nightingale went through a wide range of emotions when her signing was announced on AEW Rampage.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Willow Nightingale was a recent guest on The Sessions with Renee Paquette to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the day she signed her contract with the company, Nightingale called that moment in the ring on Rampage a complete 180 of her situation from a year ago.

“Obviously, since April of last year, I had been on a per appearance deal, but that same day that the match happened and the graphic went up, and everything was the same day that I had signed the contract,” Willow Nightingale revealed. “So officially, it had been done. I was aware, but it’s also a show day.

“So it’s like I signed the contract. Okay, now I have to go figure out my match, and my opponent had been changed last minute. So now it’s like okay, so now I have to kind of figure out this new match with somebody else. And there’s all these different directions we’re taking. I have to get dressed. Gotta get my makeup done. Okay, what time are we going on? And then the moment Tony [Schiavone] comes out, and I’m like, okay, cool, like stay in the room. Don’t leave.

“He says it, and I’m standing in the ring in Jacksonville, which is the same venue that I had done all of that extra work, where I had stood front row and screamed my lungs out because there was no audience. Then I’m going on to wrestle at 1 am, 2 am. Everyone’s drained, and I’m like, come on, give me the energy a year prior. It’s just a complete 180 of my situation.

“There are fans all around who are cheering for me and giving me this response that I wasn’t even aware would be so emotional for me. So that was like the moment that it really all sunk in that like, this is your lifelong dream coming true right now. So it was really overwhelming to just be there in front of all these people and have this happen.”
