Rhea Ripley wants to compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match.
In recent months, Ripley, a former RAW Women’s Champion, has been featured on the red brand as the enforcer of The Judgment Day. She has been physical with some of the men on the roster; Ripley has slammed Luke Gallows, and she has defeated Akira Tozawa in a singles match. As a result, some fans have wondered whether she could potentially compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
In an interview with WrestleBinge by Sportskeeda, Ripley expressed her interest in competing in the Men’s Royal Rumble. She stated that she’d like to follow in Beth Phoenix’s footsteps, as she looked up to “The Glamazon” when she was a kid. Ripley made it clear that she thinks wrestling in the men’s match would be a lot of fun.
“I mean yeah, I would love to enter the men’s Royal rumble [laughs],” Ripley said. “I would love to, it’d be a lot of fun, and it’s a history-making thing. Especially having someone like Beth Phoenix, who is someone that I really looked up to as a kid, I loved her a lot, I related to her. Body-wise, she made me feel confident in myself.
“So trying to fill the shoes of someone like Beth Phoenix or just main women, and try and help this women’s evolution, I think that I would love to step into the men’s Royal Rumble. I think it’d be a lot of fun.
Ripley was also asked to name who she would like to face if she won the Women’s Royal Rumble match. She responded by discussing her history with Charlotte Flair, the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion, and she also emphasized that she wants to face RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
“That’s a tough question. If I were to win the Royal Rumble, they’re both competitors that I would love to go WrestleMania against. I’ve done my time with Charlotte. We’ve had massive matches, but I don’t believe that there was really that big blowoff match that we could have. So maybe Charlotte.
“But then there’s also Bianca, someone who I’ve come up in NXT with, and we are very, very similar in a lot of different ways, and we know each other like the back of our hands. So I feel like that would be such a great match for WrestleMania. So if I were to win the Royal Rumble, I’d have a lot of thinking to do.”
Ripley has declared for the Women’s Royaln Rumble Match. Fans will have to wait and see whether she will compete in the men’s match at the premium live event on January 28.
