Kevin Owens will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Royal Rumble, and they will sign the contract for the match on the January 20 episode of WWE SmackDown.
During the January 13 episode of SmackDown, it was confirmed that both Owens and Reigns would step into the ring during next week’s episode to put pen to paper. Once the they sign the contract, the match will be official, giving Owens yet another shot against someone who has become a nemesis of sorts.
Though Reigns was absent on Friday, his presence was still felt, as The Bloodline interfered in the main event, where Owens faced Sami Zayn. The Usos and Solo Sikoa brutally attacked Owens and left him laid out to close the show. Sikoa sent Owens through the broadcast table with a splash to punctuate the assault.
