William Regal is reportedly back with WWE.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported the news on January 4. As previously reported, he is expected to have a vice president role, though his specific title is unclear.
Ironically, Regal was released by WWE on January 5, 2022. He had been WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting prior to his release, and he had an instrumental part in building the NXT brand into what it became before the 2.0 shift in September 2021. Following his release, Regal signed with All Elite Wrestling and debuted at AEW Revolution on March 6. He was a founder of the Blackpool Combat Club alongside Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, and the trio later added Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli to the group.
Regal was written out of AEW TV on the November 30 episode of AEW Dynamite when MJF attacked him. Previously, Regal helped MJF beat Moxley for the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear. AEW president Tony Khan subsequently confirmed that Regal asked AEW not to renew his contract option at the end of the year so he could return to WWE and work with his son, Charlie Dempsey.
Following his last day with AEW, Regal commented on his time with the company. Check out his comments here.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
