The first match is set for AEW Battle of the Belts V.
AEW will present the latest edition of Battle of the Belts on Friday, January 6, immediately following Rampage on TNT. The first match for the special is now confirmed as Orange Cassidy will defend the AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Kip Sabian.
Cassidy and Sabian have been feuding for weeks on Rampage. On December 7, Sabian selected Trent Seven to challenge Cassidy for the title, however Seven came up short in his AEW debut. They did battle the following week in an eight-man tag match where Best Friends and Dustin Rhodes beat Sabian, Seven, The Butcher, and The Blade. Then on December 23, they crossed paths again in the Casino Trios Royale, though neither man emerged victorious.
On the December 30 episode of Rampage, Sabian challenged Cassidy to defend against his friend Trent Beretta. Cassidy retained, although it may have caused a rift in Best Friends due to the interference of Penelope Ford.
Sabian then picked up a victory in his match using Cassidy’s own Orange Punch.
