Deonna Purrazzo has defeated almost everyone in the IMPACT Knockouts division, but there’s one woman she still views as her biggest threat.
IMPACT Wrestling‘s Deonna Purrazzo was a recent guest on Women’s Wrestling Talk to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about who she thinks is her biggest threat in the Knockouts division, Purrazzo pointed to Masha Slamovich, who had been on quite the streak this year until running into Jordynne Grace.
“I think Masha Slamovich must be in that conversation,” Deonna Purrazzo admitted. “I think that, you know, she went undefeated for most of the entire year. We’ve we saw her in Jordynne near kill each other over the Knockouts World Championship, and then again in the rematch in a last knockout standing.
“So, I think that Masha must be in that conversation because she is just taking it to another level. In terms of what she brings to the table, but then in terms of what defines a knockout, and I think that’s what makes our division so special, it’s just that we continue to evolve. We are continuing to up the ante in terms of the platform that Impact gives us and what we do with that, so yeah, it’s got to be Masha.”
When asked what she thinks is the most rewarding aspect of being a Knockout, Purrazzo said the legacy that comes along with that division in IMPACT is incredibly rewarding to her.
“I feel like the most rewarding thing is just being a knockout. Right? And there’s such a legacy that comes with that, and honoring that legacy is so rewarding,” Deonna Purrazzo said. “I think that there’s you get to work with Mickie James, you get to work with Gail Kim, we’ve seen Tracy Brooks come in and out and just to have those presents in the locker room, and you can kind of ask them their experiences and learn from them and pick their brain, and it just makes us more well-rounded.
“It’s athletes in wrestlers, but it’s also a more well-rounded division there. You know, like I said, there’s just such a legacy that comes with that, and I think continuing to push the boundaries and do things like a Texas deathmatch, do things like the first ever knockouts pay-per-view, main event, do things like main event television week after week after week, have last standing matches have death matches for women, things like this, that we’re continuing to push those boundaries is the most rewarding.
“It doesn’t necessarily need to just be something that I’m doing. But I really feel as though if my coworkers succeed, I succeed; if my best friends and the people that I love succeed, I’m also succeeding through them. So, to watch everyone continue to go out there and push the boundaries for what it means to be a knockout and to be a part of Impact Wrestling is what makes me the proudest.”
