Ricochet still has his eyes on the Intercontinental Championship.
During an appearance on the December 21 episode of WWE’s The Bump, Ricochet reflected on what he’s learned about contending for the Intercontinental Championship.
“Actually I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned how, if you’re just resilient, you’re determined, you can show that you’re worthy of whatever it is that you wanna do. I know Gunther, how powerful he is, I know everything about him, but I also know in the back of his mind, he knows he could have last that match. That match could have went either way, I believe. It just so happens that he happened to be the one to walk away with the title, but I do know, in the back of his mind, he was getting scared, he was getting worried. So I’ve just found out how, not only physically, but how strong that I can be when it comes to being inside that ring. I found out how far I’m willing to do and what I’m willing to do to show everybody, to be champion, and to be an impact player. So I’ve learned a lot these past couple months.”
Ricochet also reflected on his SmackDown World Cup win and noted how despite coming up short, he still wants another shot at the Intercontinental title. Ricochet held the title for 98 days in 2022, but his lone reign was ended by Gunther in June.
“Man I just wanted, and still want to be, the intercontinental champion. I still feel as strongly about it now as I did whenever we were announced for the SmackDown World Cup. I still feel as hungry as I did the day that it was announced. I still am going to do everything in my power to get back into a position to be the Intercontinental Champion. I said it over and over, if I had to be the last one standing, that’s what I’m going to do because I’m going to get this rematch. The rematch didn’t go my way, but like I said, I’m still that hungry, I’m still that determined, I’m still that motivated, and disciplined to be put back in that position. I’ll be there again one day, for sure.”
