On December 16, WWE taped matches for the December 23 episode of WWE SmackDown following the live show at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

WWE SmackDown Spoilers For 12/23)
- Gauntlet Match: Raquel Rodriguez won by last pinning Shayna Baszler; as a result, she earned a shot at WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.
- Bray Wyatt demanded an apology from LA Knight after the revelation that he’s not Uncle Howdy. Wyatt then attacked a cameraman.
- Rey Mysterio defeated Angel Garza.
- Karrion Kross and Scarlett were in the crowd. Mysterio challenged Kross to fight him, but nothing happened.
- In a promo, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns promised to defeat John Cena and Kevin Owens next week. During the promo, it was noted that Solo Sikoa will battle Sheamus next week.
- WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship: The Usos defeated Hit Row (Ashante “Thee” Adonis & Top Dolla)
- Miracle on 34th Street Fight: Ricochet & Braun Strowman defeated Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci)
- The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) popped out of one of the gift boxes at one point in the match.
