Sheamus is enjoying a career resurgence in 2022, and the WWE Universe has been along for the ride as a new connection has formed between them.
SmackDown Superstar Sheamus recently sat down with SHAK Wrestling to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about how newfound connection with the WWE Universe this year, The Celtic Warrior believes it comes down to just being himself.
“One good friend of mine just said that I’m finally letting the crowd in. I’m not pretending anymore. I’m not trying to be something I’m not. I’m just me, I wear me heart on me sleeve, and I think the fact that I was letting the crowd in and being there with me in those moments, I feel like that’s a big part of it too. I don’t have the exact answer for it, but that was a good answer he gave me.
“I feel like I always — for the last couple of years, I always wanted to involve the crowd more. I’ve always wanted to bring them in more because that’s what they’re, therefore. Triple H once said to us years ago, talking about social media a couple of years ago, saying WWE was the first interactive audience; you know what I mean? Like, from day one, they’ve always been involved with the signs and everything.
“They’re always so much part of the show. You go to an NBA or a football game, whatever they’re there, but the concentration of the players and stuff is basically on the game. There’s huge opportunities every single week to let the fans in, and bring them in and make them as much a part of the show as the performers are. As the WWE Superstars are, men and women.
“So I’m more aware of that now too, and I love bringing them in. I love bringing them in for those moments that involve them and just feed off their energy. It’s great for me. I guess before; I was a little bit — I don’t know. I don’t know what it is; I wasn’t. I was a little bit reluctant.”
