Matt Cardona says MJF is doing great, and he has something special, but he needs some help with his tan.
Cardona is one of the most buzzworthy stars on the open market; in the last year and a half, he has won the IMPACT Digital Media Championship, the GCW World Championship, and the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Meanwhile, long before he was one of AEW’s top stars, MJF trained with Brian Myers, Cardona’s longtime tag team partner and friend, at Create A Pro Wrestling. As a result, Cardona has known MJF for a long time.
Speaking with Inside The Ropes, Cardona was asked to share his thoughts on MJF. He credited “The Salt of the Earth” for being an impressive talent, and he knew he had something years ago. Cardona then offered his help to MJF, as he claimed the AEW star needs help with his tanner.
“I mean MJF is a hell of a talent. He trained under my partner, if you will, Brian Myers at Create A Pro on Long Island,” Cardona said. “So I’ve known about Max for a long time, and I’ve been watching him grow since he started. You could tell right away, this kid has something. It’s obvious now. He has the gift of gab, he can go in the ring. He’s starting to work on his physique. I will say this, Max, if you’re listening, if you need some tanning advice, and you do, you gotta come to me.
“I don’t know what kind of spray he’s using, but his hands always look kind of funky with the tanner. Come to me, I’ll help you out. Listen, I have no desire to go one-on-one with Max. We’re in our own different universe right now. Maybe a team? We’re both from Long Island. Maybe we’ll team up. But he’s doing great. I just saw he landed the role in a movie [about] the Von Erichs, so congrats to Max. He’s doing a great job.”
MJF will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear. Meanwhile, Cardona continues to compete for NWA, IMPACT Wrestling, and GCW, among other promotions.
