Can Dave Bautista campaign his way into a popular video game turned movie franchise?
Over a decade ago, Bautista campaigned on Twitter for the role of Drax The Destroyer for Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy. Drax is a role he successfully landed and has played for the last decade, his swan song coming in GOTG Volume 3 in May 2023.
The former WWE Superstar took to social media to throw his name in the ring, so to speak, in hopes of landing the role of Marcus Fenix in the upcoming live-action Gears of War movie. Tweeting out:
“I can’t make this any easier. @gearsofwar @netflix #marcusfenix #GearsofWar,” Dave Bautista said.
Believe it or not, Bautista is already well prepared to take on the role of Marcus Fenix as he was added as a skin to his character in Gears of War 5 and re-recorded all of Fenix’s lines himself to keep things lined up with the game as a whole.
This certainly seems to be a role that The Animal was born to play, and hopefully, Netflix will realize that before casting gets underway.
Bautista is no stranger to doing movies with Netflix, as he’s been cast for roles in Army of the Dead, Unleashed, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
