Wardlow isn’t afraid to step into the ring with anyone in All Elite Wrestling, even if they are horror icons like Freddy Krueger.
AEW TNT Champion Wardlow was a guest this morning on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca and Thunder Rosa to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about potentially stepping into the ring with horror icons Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers, Wardlow believes he could beat all three of them, but Freddy would be the easiest.
“I would beat all three of them,” Wardlow declared. “But I think the easiest one to beat would be Freddy. I have lucid dreams. What’s the term when you’re like very aware with your dreams? All I know is I kind of control my dream sometimes. So I think Freddy would meet his match with me.”
When asked what horror movie character he would be like if he was the killer in one of these movies, he believes he would be a mix between Michael Myers and Ghostface from Scream.
“I think I would be very Michael Myers-esque,” Wardlow revealed. “I think I’d be a combination of Ghostface and Michael Myers. Imagine if Michael Myers moved quickly. Like, imagine if Michael Myers took off full sprint, and that’d be the most terrifying man in the world. So that would be me.”
Later in the interview, it dawned on Wardlow that horror movie characters and professional wrestlers have a lot in common.
“Horror characters are just essentially pro wrestlers,” Wardlow said. “They have a gimmick. They have a theme song. They have a finishing move. A catchphrase in some cases.”
