Karl Anderson says he won’t be at New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Battle Autumn event on November 5, but NJPW continues to advertise him.
Despite reigning as the NEVER Openweight Champion, Karl Anderson returned to WWE on October 10 alongside his tag team partner Luke Gallows. Anderson was previously advertised to defend the title against Hikuleo on November 5 at NJPW’s Battle Autumn event in Osaka. However, WWE has since announced that Anderson, Gallows, and AJ Styles will face The Judgement Day at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on the same day.
Anderson took to social media to clarify he will not be appearing at NJPW Battle Autumn because of the double booking. As of October 21, NJPW continues to advertise the match by stating, “Hikuleo is still scheduled to face Karl Anderson on November 5 at Battle Autumn.”
In the same article, Hikuleo called out Anderson for ditching NJPW for “brighter lights.” Hikuleo stated, “Listen, you want to call yourself ‘bright lights’? Don’t forget who turned on those lights for you- New Japan did. And now you want to say those lights are brighter? You want to say your lights are brighter. Well don’t turn your back on us. Don’t forget where you came from.”
It remains to be seen what will happen with the NEVER Openweight Championship on November 5.
WrestleZone will continue to monitor the situation.
