The Rock: I’ve Talked About A Potential WWE Executive Role With Nick Khan

According to The Rock, he has discussed the possibility of becoming a WWE executive with Nick Khan.

Khan was named the co-CEO of WWE alongside Stephanie McMahon after Vince McMahon retired on July 22. The Rock is a largely successful businessman and actor; among other ventures, he teamed up with RedBird Capital and Dany Garcia to buy the XFL. He also co-owns the Teremana Tequila liquor brand.

Speaking with  BNN Bloomberg, when asked whether he’d consider a potential director position with WWE, The Rock stated that he has discussed working in an executive role with Khan. He noted that he wasn’t sure whether a board seat is in the plans, but he acknowledged the possibility of other things.

“Nick [Khan] and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana [Johnson’s tequila brand],” he said. “I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather [and] my dad started here in Canada, where [his father] was born. So, I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure.”

Fans, analysts and critics alike continue to wonder whether WWE could get sold someday. Now that Vince McMahon has retired, this speculation has only ramped up. The Rock commented on the possibility, and he stated that anyone who might acquire WWE should love the wrestling business.

“I’ve known Vince for a very, very long time and he’s a businessman,” he said. “I think the key if there were a sale of the WWE is to make sure that whoever acquires that brand in that property, you’ve got to love the wrestling business. Of course, you can love the asset, and you can love everything that comes with it, but you got to love the professional wrestling business … because if not, then you could kind of see the writing on the wall; four or five years down the road, what will happen?”

The Rock’s newest movie, Black Adam, will premiere in theaters on October 21.
