Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Jordynne Grace Stops Slamovich, Liv Morgan Dethroned, Is Saraya Cleared?

Jordynne Grace ended Masha Slamovich’s streak. Liv Morgan was dethroned at Extreme Rules. Saraya is reportedly cleared to wrestle, and more. Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

IMPACT Bound For Glory Results

IMPACT Wrestling presented its annual Bound For Glory event this past weekend. Knockouts were present in five matches on the event card.

Firstly, Maria Kanellis-Bennett served as the manager for The Kingdom in their bout against the Motor City Machine Guns. There, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett successfully retained their IMPACT Tag Team Championships.

Jordynne Grace (c) vs Masha Slamovich

In terms of in-ring action, the Knockouts garnered impressive performances across four different matches. Arguably match of the night, Jordynne Grace battled Masha Slamovich.

Grace and Slamovich dueled for the Knockouts Championship this past Friday night, with Grace defending her title. In previous weeks, each competitor selected a “poison” for one another to face off against. Jordynne Grace overcame Max The Impaler at Victory Road, while Slamovich defeated Allie Katch in a Monster’s Ball match.

“The Russian Dynamite” entered Bound For Glory riding an impressive winning streak. Since signing with IMPACT Wrestling, Slamovich remained undefeated in competition. She last saw a loss in October of 2021 at the hands of Deonna Purrazzo at Knockouts Knockdown. Shortly after, Slamovich signed with the company. She would then go on to rack up a multitude of victories. However, that streak would finally come to an end.

After a hard-fought battle, Grace and Slamovich pulled out all the stops. As Jordynne Grace mounted Slamovich from the top rope, she landed the Grace Driver to finally gain the pinfall victory. Therefore, Jordynne Grace retained her Knockouts Championship, lending Slamovich her first loss in nearly a year.

A full recap of the enthralling bout can be found below, courtesy of our live coverage page.

Knockouts World Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Masha Slamovich

They waste no time in slugging it out. Outside the ring, Jordynne stomps on Masha. She rolls her back in for a quick cover. On the apron, Masha hoists Grace up for a reverse piledriver that sucks the air out of the crowd. Masha pins for two. Masha targets the head and neck, alternating holds and strikes. Grace does a double stomp and stands on Masha to pin her. Masha boots Grace in the corner, rolls her over for a kick to the spine. They slap each other while Masha is on top. Jordynne clubs her way out of a hold and hits a spinebuster. They trade more brutal chops in the center and hit spinning back fists to knock each other down. Grace hits back to back power slams before landing a driver for a nearfall. Masha hits Canadian Destroyer for a nearfall.

Jordynne follows Masha up top and pulls off a stalling suplex. Jordynne rolls through for a jackhammer and two count. Grace puts Masha up top and chops her. Grace goes for Muscle Buster. Masha breaks free, kicks her, and applies a sleeper, Masha rolls her over into a face lock. Masha lands a German/bridging pin. Spin back fist from Grace. She drops Masha with a back body drop, nearfall. “This is awesome” chant. Grace Driver connects after some back and forth, but Masha kicks out. Air raid crash in the corner by Masha. Snow Plow connects but Grace’s foot is under the bottom rope. Grace hits Grace Driver from the top rope and pins Masha to end the streak.

Winner: Jordynne Grace (c)

James vs Yim, Knockouts Tag Team Championships, Call Your Shot Gauntlet

Elsewhere on the card, Mickie James collided with Mia Yim in the next stop on her Last Rodeo. This bout also marked the first time in over a decade they had squared off one-on-one. Nevertheless, both competitors started and ended the matchup with great sportsmanship. In the end, James hit her signature Mick-DT to secure the victory.

Following Yim and James, the Knockouts Tag Team Championships were on the line. Reigning champions Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green (VXT) would defend against JeSICKa and Taya Valkyrie (Death Dollz). Though a valiant effort, the Death Dollz proved to be too much for VXT to overcome. Valkyrie would assist Jessicka into hitting the Sick Driver on Green for the three count. As a result, Taya Valkyrie and Jessicka are the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

Lastly, the Call Your Shot Gauntlet featured five Knockouts, with the winner guaranteeing a title opportunity of their choice. Killer Kelly and Tasha Steelz would reignite their rivalry, with Steelz eliminating Kelly. However, the former Knockouts Champion would also accidentally eliminate her ally, Savannah Evans, in the process. Steelz would later be eliminated by Bully Ray.

Gisele Shaw would also gather an impressive showing, outlasting half the competition. Shaw would later be eliminated alongside a returning Taylor Wilde. Wilde would serve as a surprise entrant, locking lips with Bully Ray at one point. In the end, Bully Ray would go on to win the Call Your Shot Gauntlet, earning a future title opportunity.

WWE Extreme Rules: Liv Morgan Dethroned

WWE went extreme this past Saturday.

Amongst the women’s division, two championship bouts ensued. Firstly, Liv Morgan defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules match.

In their toughest outing to date, Morgan and Rousey brought out all the stops (and weapons). Featured in this match were a baseball bat, a fire extinguisher, a table, and more. Ultimately, the bicep crusher would prove to be too much for Morgan, as she passed out. Ronda Rousey would then be named the new Smackdown Women’s Champion.

A recap of the closing moments of the match can be found below, courtesy of our live coverage page.

Rousey ties Morgan up with her black belt against the ring post. Morgan struggles as Rousey wacks her all over with a belt. Morgan pulls a table from under the ring. Rousey is out on the floor. Morgan takes forever setting up the table before laying Rousey on it. Two count after a senton through the table. Rousey immediately traps Morgan in an armbar. Morgan lifts Rousey and powerbombs her on the broken table. Rousey kicks out again. Rousey transitions into a biceps crusher. Morgan passes out.

Winner and NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey!

RAW Women’s Championship: Bianca Belair (c) vs Bayley

On the red brand, Bianca Belair would defend her title in a grueling ladder match. In the weeks leading up, Belair would fall to the antics of Bayley’s Damage CTRL stable.  Accordingly, those antics were present once again at Extreme Rules.

Mere inches from victory, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai would knock Belair off the ladder. Belair would battle back to eventually land a double-modified KOD on them. In the end, however, the resiliency of Belair would overcome the odds. “The EST” would climb to victory to retrieve the title and remain RAW Women’s Champion.

Saraya Reportedly Cleared To Wrestle

Saraya might finally return to in-ring action.

Upon Saraya’s arrival in All Elite Wrestling, her in-ring status was unclear. Following a reaggravated neck injury in late 2017, the former WWE Divas Champion was forced to retire a few months later. She would go on to serve as Smackdown General Manager in 2018, then acted as manager for the team of Asuka and Kairi Sane. Saraya, formerly known as Paige, remained with WWE until early July of this year, before revealing she would be a free agent.

Saraya soon emerged in All Elite Wrestling last month, first debuting at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam in New York. In the weeks following, Saraya engaged in a war of words with former AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker. On October 5th, Baker and Saraya would brawl. This would mark Saraya’s first on-screen physical contact in over four years.

Despite the previous jabs at her neck injury from Baker, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that AEW doctor Michal Sampson cleared Saraya. n

Neither AEW president Tony Khan nor Saraya has confirmed the report.
