Jon Moxley is all in with All Elite Wrestling, as he has officially signed a five-year contract extension.
AEW announced the news on October 7, and the press release noted that the reigning AEW World Champion would take on an expanded role that includes coaching and mentoring.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select subsequently reported that, according to multiple sources, Moxley had been working without a contract at some point before he signed the extension. Sapp noted that, when Fightful asked about Moxley’s contract status, AEW sources noted that it was “quite a situation” and indicated that he company would do everything it could to ensure that Moxley stays with AEW for the rest of this career.
The official press release stated that Moxley will exclusively compete for AEW and its international partners. Previously, Moxley has frequently wrestled for Game Changer Wrestling and REVOLVER, and he is the reigning GCW World Champion. Moxley is set to defend the title in a Championship vs. Career Match against Nick Gage at GCW Homecoming this weekend.
Per Sapp, AEW wouldn’t comment on what the announcement meant regarding his status with the aforementioned companies, and GCW wasn’t aware of the press release until it was made public, so the company is not sure as to how it affects their relationship with Moxley.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
