Cody Rhodes hopes to return to WWE sooner rather than later.
“The American Nightmare” departed All Elite Wrestling in February and subsequently signed with WWE. He re-debuted at WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Seth Rollins. He subsequently established himself as one of the top stars on WWE RAW and picked up two more wins over Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash and Hell in a Cell. However, ahead of the third bout in their trilogy, Rhodes tore his pectoral tendon. He gutted through the setback and still beat Rollins, but he subsequently had to get surgery, which has sidelined him ever since.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Rhodes was asked about his injury and his eventual return. He noted that he has a scenario in mind and stated that many fans probably know what that is.
“I was told I got the strength of an 11-year-old,” Rhodes said. “But I was pretty strong at 11, so hopefully soon. They haven’t really given me [a timeline] because they know I’m stupid and I’d try to test it. I got in my mind where I wanna be, and I think a lot of fans have in their mind where I’d like to be. That’s hopefully where it’s at. I think what happens next hopefully and what we do, and this is all speculative, up in the air, hopefully it’s a run that people will remember, and I gotta be healthy for it.”
“The American Nightmare” was also asked to share his thoughts about the initial stretch of his WWE return, and he called it the best three months of his life.
“No complaints,” Rhodes said. “They’ve treated me like the house that built me, which they were. Honestly, it’s an amazing… uh ended, we were back and everything was rolling so fast, and then I tore my pec. So it’s like the best three months of my life. Hopefully [I’ll] get back to that soon.”
