Buddy Matthews’ time with AEW may be coming to an end. Fightful Select released a report over the weekend indicating that the spot with Great Muta on Rampage was a way to write Buddy off of AEW TV. As reported before, Buddy has reportedly been unhappy with his AEW situation.
The report from Fightful says one source told them they believed it was his last night with the company. At a Fight Life Pro Wrestling event over the weekend, Matthews added to the speculation by saying “Unfortunately, tonight, I’m going to be the bearer of some unfortunate news. As everyone knows, the House of Black has had some issues lately. As all the members of the house, I’m speaking for them all, we want to thank you all for being members of the house. Unfortunately, I, like some of the other members, need to go away for a while. I need to re-calibrate. I need to figure out some things. As my brother Malakai once said, this isn’t goodbye, this is see you later.”
Buddy is now the second member of the ‘House of Black’ to leave AEW if the news is confirmed. Malakai Black is also reportedly done with AEW, with a clause in his release that prevents him from returning to WWE for ‘quite some time’.
Thanks to Fightful for providing transcriptions along with the above report.
