Mickie James hopes talent protects themselves, no matter how long they want to wrestle.
Dutch Mantell recently shared a compilation featuring some dangerous-looking spots that took place during various All Elite Wrestling matches on television. One of the most recent spots shown took place at AEW All Out, where Ruby Soho landed awkwardly on her neck after taking a pump kick from Tay Melo during their mixed tag match.
Mantell was one of several people that commented on how these spots could be a safety issue, voicing his concerns that AEW needs more control over some lesser-experienced talent before it becomes a bigger problem. Now, Mickie James has also commented on Mantell’s post, encouraging talent to protect themselves and work like they want to prolong their careers as much as they can.
“I gasped. I cringed. I’ve landed similar before and couldn’t turn my head for weeks. Protect your neck. Once it’s broken. So are all your once dreams. So Wrestle Smart. Like you want to do it again tomorrow. 10yrs from now. Maybe even 20,” James wrote.
FWIW, who think @AEW needs more control over their “green” talent before it becomes a legal issue? https://t.co/xoJD4ja0Kt

Mickie James is a 23-year veteran of the wrestling business, currently appearing in IMPACT Wrestling. James recently announced she is on her “last rodeo” and is in line for a shot at the IMPACT Knockouts Championship.
Prior to that announcement, James spoke at Stocktoncon about what’s possibly next for her in professional wrestling. James said that she feels like she’ll always have a connection to the wrestling business, whether she’s competing or not.
“I don’t know,” she admitted. “I’m a mom, my son is eight this year. I think I’ll always do stuff with wrestling, in some capacity. I enjoy doing things like this [convention]. It’s a way to reconnect with fans. I don’t really know what’s next, that’s the beauty of it.”
