Karrion Kross is no stranger to Mexico, but he does have one opponent he has yet to compete against there.
For three years straight, Kross competed in Lucha Libre AAA World Wide on 34 different occasions. However, “The Herald Of Doomsday” has not challenged an opponent in Mexico since late 2019. In speaking on El Brunche De WWE, Karrion Kross expressed his desire to return to Mexico. Moreover, he named an opponent he’d like to face on site–one he’s never grappled with ever before.
“I would like to [go back] for sure,” Kross noted, “and I would like to compete against Rey Mysterio in Mexico. I have always wanted to do that. I’ve always wanted to fight Rey in Mexico, completely out of respect. No disrespect to Rey, but for me personally, growing up watching him and my history in Mexico, I’ve competed against many, many, many legends in Mexico, but never Rey Mysterio.”
Rey Mysterio isn’t the only entity he’d like to fight, though. In response to a fan question, Karrion Kross pinpointed which superhero, or anti-hero in this case, that he’d like to square off with.
“I want to fight The Punisher,” Kross proclaimed, “and I would want to fight The Punisher because I like that TV show and I want to be in it. It’s a very good show on Disney.”
Kross continued on to praise Mexico’s Lucha Libre wrestling and performance art, recalling a childhood intrigue.
“When I was a little boy, all I had was Batman and Spider-Man. They had the masks. The very first time that I remember seeing Lucha Libre was Rey Mysterio versus Juventud Guerrera,” Kross explained. “It was ECW, I think 1996. To me, when I saw that, this was like real life superheroes. Anybody now, when you’re a kid, you can put the mask on and can live through Luchadors on the TV.”
“I remember it was the craziest thing I ever saw. I just love the spectacle and the energy in a live arena from Lucha Libre. I’ve worked in Mexico very consistently for three years, five years total, but consistently for three. I had never been in a building that has that type of energy like I have in Mexico. So I love the Lucha Libre culture and the passion from the fans the most.”
