Caprice Coleman Previews Facing Colby Corino At NWA 74, Calls It An Honor To Be In The Ring

Caprice Coleman is looking forward to NWA 74, where he’ll face Colby Corino in a clash between a rising star and an established veteran.

Coleman has been in the wrestling business since 1996, and he continues to work as a wrestler and as a commentator. On the other hand, Colby is a member of the Corino wrestling family, which includes his father Steve and his aunt Cathy, also known as Allison Danger.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Coleman previewed the matchup and noted that he has a lot of respect for Colby and his father. He made it clear that he intends to set up his future when he faces the young star on Sunday.

“I’m able to look at the past of the NWA and its future,” Coleman said. “And who better to wrestle than a Corino? That’s a great name in professional wrestling. I have a lot of respect for Colby Corino to walk in on his father’s legacy. I go way back with his dad, way before Ring of Honor. That was NWA 2000 when there was a promotion in Raeford, North Carolina.

“I remember Colby Corino as a kid, and I’m proud he’s following in his father’s footsteps. But I have to do what I have to do to set up my future, and he’s about to walk into his.”

The veteran also described how he likes working with younger talent, both as a wrestler and as a commentator’ he believes it’s important to highlight them and showcase the evolution of the industry,

“I love wrestling the younger wrestlers, as well as calling their matches,” said Coleman. ‘The sport has evolved so much. The young wrestlers do things I’ll never be able to do. I can still go, but not in the way they do. If the sport is going to grow, we need to highlight what they do.”

Ahead of his match with Corino, Coleman called it an honor to be in the ring, and he maintains this mindset for his career.

“It’s an honor to be in that ring,” Coleman says. “Whether I’m wrestling or calling a match, I never forget that. I’m honored to be a part of this sport, and to step in the ring again for the NWA.”
