NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Fred Rosser has been wrestling for nearly 20 years, and he doesn’t plan to stop any time soon.
During an appearance on That Hashtag Show, Rosser emphasized that representing NJPW and NJPW STRONG is an honor to him, and he wants to build the brand by helping younger talent. He also stated that he has a lot left in the tank, and he’s going to keep going as long as he can.
“Just given the opportunity to represent New Japan, New Japan Strong, has been an honor for me,” said Rosser. “Again we still have a lot of work to do. I consider New Japan STRONG like NXT. So at this point in my career, September 11 will be 20 years I’ve been rocking and rolling. I wanna be able to help elevate talent. I wanna be able to help work with some of the young lions, continue to work with the some young lions. I still have a lot left in the tank. I’ve gotta steal that line from Mark Henry.
“I’ve got another, I always say I have another 11,12 years left and it’s time for retirement. But that’s all me just joking and crying wolf. I’m gonna go until the wheels fall off, and right now, representing New Japan, New Japan STRONG, the sky’s the limit for me.”
Rosser also looked back on his heated feud with Tom Lawlor in NJPW STRONG and noted that both getting voted the Match of the Year for the show and winning the STRONG Openweight Championship were the biggest honors in his career.
“It’s my biggest honor ever having been voted match of the year for New Japan STRONG, and my biggest honor ever holding my first-ever singles championship,” said Rosser. “Sometimes it takes people a year, six months. It took me six months to get my first singles championship. So it means the world to me. New Japan STRONG is my home. I like to say that I am the heart and soul of New Japan STRONG, the people’s champion of New Japan STRONG.”
