Mickie James is uncertain of her future in professional wrestling.
On August 8th, James revealed via Twitter that she feels her time in wrestling may be done. Two days later, the veteran expressed a similar sentiment. As a fan claimed Mickie was too good to retire, James released the following statement via Twitter.
“I appreciate you. Honestly I’ve been so blessed & love my fans so much! I wouldn’t have had all this without you. What is left for me to prove anymore? What else can I do? I’d rather bow out screaming “Womens Wrestling Matters” from the top of the mountain than the valley.”
More recently, The “Hardcore Country” legend spoke candidly about what’s possibly next for her in professional wrestling. In speaking with MYTV26 at Stocktoncon, James expressed her uncertainty in her situation.
“I don’t know,” she admitted. “I’m a mom, my son is eight this year. I think I’ll always do stuff with wrestling, in some capacity. I enjoy doing things like this [convention]. It’s a way to reconnect with fans. I don’t really know what’s next, that’s the beauty of it.”
Mickie James last appeared on television in a loss to Chelsea Green at IMPACT Wrestling on July 14th (taped July 2nd). James has not appeared in the ring since July 16th, where she competed for the ABC Women’s Championship in France against Shanna. In the meantime, James co-hosts weekly on Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM, as well as GAWTV alongside Lisa Marie Varon and SoCal Val.
In addition, James will next face Lizzy Evo at 1PW’s “A New Twist of Fate” event on October 1st in the UK.
