To Santos Escobar, the sky’s the limit regarding his future with WWE.
The former NXT Cruiserweight is often viewed as one of the potential call-ups to the main roster now that Triple H is leading creative. He made his NXT debut in 2020 and as been featured on the brand ever since. He is the leader of the Legado del Fantasma stable, and he is set to face Tony D’Angelo on the “Heatwave” edition of NXT 2.0 on August 16; if he loses, he’ll be forced to leave the brand. This stipulation has sparked some speculation as to whether Escobar might be moving to Monday or Friday nights.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Escobar was asked about potential moving to RAW or SmackDown. He responded by saying that he likes to compete and the sky’s the limit for the future. He also noted that he aims to become “the number one” before he leaves NXT.
“You know what, you know I like to compete,” said Escobar. “I’m a natural-born competitor. NXT has been a place where I got to fight, wrestle, compete with every single one of them. Right now, I feel very happy. I feel excited. I feel like the sky’s the limit. People throw that just like a punchline and you hear it so often, but right now, I actually feel like the sky is the limit. Not just for Santos Escobar, but also for Legado del Fantasma. You know I represent my familia Latina, my familia Mexicana, Lucha libre.
“So I think right now is the time. I’ve enjoyed the process, the process is also something you can enjoy, and I’ve enjoyed it a lot. But I cannot leave while competing. I gotta be the number one. So who knows? But right now, I’m ready to compete. I’m ready to be the best.”
