Dakota Kai shocked the world when she returned at WWE SummerSlam, and she’s still thrilled in the aftermath of the unforgettable night.
At “The Biggest Party of the Summer”, Kai, who had been released from WWE in April, walked down the ramp and joined forces with Bayley and IYO SKY. The trio then cemented their status as a dangerous force the next night on WWE RAW by attacking Becky Lynch.
During an appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Kai discussed her return and noted that it all happened at the last minute.
“Honestly it still feels like a whirlwind to me with everything that happened,” said Kai. “It all happened so last-minute, too. So to be talking with you guys right now is insane to me. Everything that’s happened since Saturday has been insane, so yeah, it’s been crazy.”
When asked to describe how she felt in the moment when she was walking down the ramp at SummerSlam, she noted that, despite her efforts to soak in the moment, she was still trying to accept that the situation was a reality.
“It’s kind of weird,” said Kai. “It’s sort of like I had an out-of-body experience. I got advice a couple years ago when I was in the WrestleMania battle royale by Tamina, who was like, this is gonna be over in the blink of an eye so make sure you take it in, look around and actually absorb the moment because it’s gonna go by really quickly.
“So I took her advice, but it’s very weird because I had a short window where I knew this was actually going to be a thing that would happen, so I think I was still trying to accept that reality when I was walking down the ramp. I’m like, what’s happening right now? This is weird. It was crazy.”
Kai went on to describe her connection with both Bayley and SKY, noting that she and “The Role Model” have been talking about something like this for a long time. She also stated that it’s “crazy” to be working with the two renowned competitors.
“So Bayley and I, we’ve been kind of like talking about something like this for a long time,” said Kai. “It hasn’t been something that was just stirred overnight. This has been something we’ve wanted for years at this point, so the fact that it’s actually happened and to be sort of under her guidance is insane because she’s literally amazing and she’s great. But IYO and I, we’ve known each other a long time, when I first went to Japan, and she is literally one of the best in the world, so to be alongside these two women is just a dream.
“Everything that’s happened, it’s like something you think of in a fever dream, and you don’t think it’s really gonna happen, but the fact that it is and I’m alongside these two amazing people, it’s crazy. It’s insane.”
