Ric Flair is dealing with plantar fasciitis in the bottom of his foot, but he doesn’t seem worried about it heading into the last match of his career on July 31.
The Nature Boy was a guest on Busted Open Radio this morning with Dave LeGreca and Bully Ray to discuss his last match on July 31. Flair is scheduled to team with his son-in-law, All Elite Wrestling star Andrade El Idolo to take on WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett and Ring of Honor’s Jay Lethal. When asked about his foot injury heading into this match, Flair revealed that he’s dealing with plantar fasciitis.
“I’ve got plantar fasciitis in the bottom of my foot,” Ric Flair revealed. “Other than that, I’m perfect, but that damn thing is sore as shit. I’m at the doctor’s right now.”
When Bully Ray asked if he thought this injury would affect him in his last match, Flair said that it won’t, although it’s hard for him to run the ropes right now.
“No, shoot, I would just deaden it if I had to. You know me,” Ric Flair said. “But it affects me daily. It’s hard running the ropes with that damn center of your foot. For some reason, everybody knows that the middle of your foot is so damn sensitive. I mean for anything, right? So much less my body weight, but no, I’ve been training hard and doing two-a-days training with Rob. I think he was on the episode; as you guys saw last night, he’s John Cena’s guy. In the morning, I’ve landed the lakes, and I drive over, and I was training with Jay, and now I’m training with other guys right here in town. So I do two-a-days, then take a day off, two-a-days, and take a day off.”
Conrad Thompson was also on Busted Open this morning and confirmed that Flair isn’t worried about the issue with his foot and that he’s ready to compete on July 31.
“He’s in good spirits you know,” Conrad Thompson began. “He’s a little out of sorts that he’s not training with Jay Lethal; obviously, that was a big part of him getting ready, and he’s found another ring, and he feels good about it. He feels like he’s got his conditioning and up and down and quickness and movements and all that. Now it’s just a matter of getting down to Nashville, but I know there’s been some reports that he’s injured and he’s hurting and all that but the reality is, he’s still gonna be there. He’s got some sort of little foot thing going on, but he’s not worried about it, and it’s gonna be a big day, man. It’s gonna happen one way or another. Ric Flair’s gonna walk that aisle one last time.”
Ric Flair’s Last Match will air on FITE on Sunday, July 31.
